Workday Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire Sana for $1.1B

Workday has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Sana, an AI company focused on building next-generation enterprise knowledge tools, for approximately $1.1 billion. Sana Founder and CEO Joel Hellermark highlighted the company’s vision, stating, “Our focus has always been on creating intuitive AI tools that improve how people learn and work. I'm excited to bring these tools to 75 million Workday users and partner with Workday's iconic team to launch a new era of superintelligence for work.” Sana’s AI solutions deliver personalized, proactive experiences, helping employees find information, automate tasks, create content, and gain insights, while Sana Learn accelerates learning and content creation, cutting course development from months to days.

The acquisition will allow Sana to continue developing its products while leveraging Workday’s enterprise platform to scale its AI capabilities. Gerrit Kazmaier, President of Product and Technology at Workday, said, “Sana's team, AI-native approach, and beautiful design perfectly align with our vision to reimagine the future of work. This will make Workday the new front door for work, delivering a proactive, personalized, and intelligent experience that unlocks unmatched AI capabilities for the workplace.” The transaction is expected to close in the fourth quarter of Workday’s fiscal year 2026, ending January 31, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions.
