Previously, Andrews was an associate at Lux Capital. He holds a master’s degree in biomedical informatics and a bachelor’s degree in biomedical computation from Stanford University.
Cameron Andrews's Insight
“Sirona’s mission is to accelerate the transition to AI-powered healthcare. Radiology has long been at the forefront of AI’s introduction into clinical medicine. What became clear to us about radiology seven years ago is now becoming evident across healthcare more broadly: AI will reinvent the practice of medicine, but only after the outdated, deeply entrenched software systems powering clinical care are rebuilt for the AI age.
When we started Sirona, raising capital to build software for doctors was nearly impossible. Over $4 billion had been spent developing AI for medical imaging, with little to show for it. It took our team of 60 brilliant individuals half a decade and $100 million to create this technological future for radiology. During that time, the world began to embrace the technological vision for the future of medicine that we’ve been championing since our inception.
I’ve had very little to do with Sirona’s success, aside from one thing I’m most proud of: convincing enough smart people that something wildly unreasonable was possible, so that other smart people could make that unreasonable thing a reality. Sirona’s impact belongs to our employees. Creating the space for them to succeed is what entrepreneurship means to me.”
