Voize has raised $50 million in Series A financing to accelerate the rollout of its voice-activated companion designed to ease administrative pressure on nurses. The investment round, led by Balderton Capital with participation from HV Capital, Redalpine, and Y Combinator, follows the rapid adoption of the tool across more than 1,100 care facilities. Healthcare systems in the U.S. and Europe collectively spend over $246 billion each year on administrative labor, and nearly a third of nurses’ time is consumed by documentation. Voize’s founders, twins Fabio and Marcel Schmidberger, along with CTO Erik Ziegler, built the system after observing how administrative work affected care during their grandfather’s time in a nursing home.
CEO Fabio Schmidberger said, “Nurses shoulder a massive administrative burden, yet there is no technology built for them that understands how they really work.” He added, “Our motivation was simple: use voice-enabled AI to eliminate the admin overload that drives nurses out of the profession.”
The company’s on-device language model processes medical terminology, regional dialects, and fast-paced speech patterns without relying on constant connectivity, contributing to improved privacy and reliable performance. The assistant interacts with electronic health records to support documentation, scheduling, medication workflows, and emergency alerts.
Schmidberger added that running locally on smartphones ensures “accuracy, data protection, and reliability even in the toughest clinical environments.” With its new funding, Voize plans to expand its presence in Europe and the U.S., enhance its AI features, and expand partnerships in skilled nursing settings where documentation demands remain especially high.
