Island Secures $250M to Transform Enterprise Security Solutions

Enterprise browser company, Island, has secured $250 million in a Series E financing round led by Coatue Management, raising its valuation to $4.8 billion. Founded in 2020, the company has now secured roughly $730 million in total funding. Island develops a browser designed specifically for enterprise use, embedding IT, security, and productivity tools directly into the browsing experience. This approach is intended to help organizations manage user activity, enforce data policies, and streamline security protocols across their workforce.

Since emerging from stealth in 2022, Island has grown to serve 450 customers and has seen its annual recurring revenue double year over year. The company employs about 500 people, with a significant portion dedicated to engineering and product development. Its browser, built on Chromium, enables features such as data loss prevention, zero-trust access, SaaS security, and contractor onboarding—capabilities shaped through input from CIOs and CISOs. As enterprises accelerate adoption of AI and cloud-based tools, Island’s product aims to offer control and visibility without disrupting the user experience. The new funding will support continued product development and hiring as the company scales.
