Corsera Health, a clinical-stage company focused on cardiovascular disease prediction and prevention, has raised $80 million in an oversubscribed Series A financing co-led by Forbion and Population Health Partners, with participation from existing and new investors, including Co-Founder and Co-CEO John Maraganore. As part of the financing, Marco Boorsma, General Partner at Forbion, will join the company’s board of directors. The funding will support the advancement of Corsera’s preventive RNA interference (RNAi) medicines targeting low-density lipoprotein cholesterol and blood pressure, as well as further development of Klotho, its AI-enabled platform designed to predict lifetime cardiovascular risk and estimate the benefits of early intervention.
Alongside the financing, Corsera initiated dosing in a Phase 1 clinical trial of COR-1004, a subcutaneously administered siRNA targeting PCSK9, marking the company’s first clinical milestone. The study will evaluate safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and early signs of activity, including reductions in PCSK9 and LDL cholesterol levels, with initial proof-of-concept data expected in 2026. “The initiation of our first clinical trial marks an important milestone on that journey,” said Clive Meanwell, MD, Co-Founder and Co-CEO. John Maraganore added, “By combining AI-enabled prediction of lifetime ASCVD risk with preventive RNAi medicines, Corsera has the potential to change the trajectory of cardiovascular disease.”
