CoreWeave to Acquire Reinforcement Learning Startup OpenPipe

CoreWeave has signed a definitive agreement to acquire OpenPipe, a startup recognized for its reinforcement learning (RL) platform that allows AI agents to learn from experience and improve over time. OpenPipe’s technology includes the widely used open-source Agent Reinforcement Trainer (ART) and tools that help enterprises adapt AI models to new tasks with greater efficiency. “Reinforcement learning is emerging as a pivotal force to strengthen model performance on agentic and reasoning tasks,” said Brian Venturo, Co-Founder and Chief Strategy Officer of CoreWeave. The acquisition follows CoreWeave’s purchase of Weights & Biases and further expands the company’s AI infrastructure and capabilities.

For OpenPipe, the deal represents a significant step for a startup that has gained traction in AI labs and enterprises. “Our technology helps customers train highly reliable agents, bridging the gap between prototype and production,” said Kyle Corbitt, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of OpenPipe. By joining CoreWeave, Corbitt and his team aim to bring reinforcement learning tools to a wider set of enterprises eager to build scalable, cost-effective, and adaptable AI systems. The combination underscores the growing role of founder-led companies in shaping the AI ecosystem as reinforcement learning becomes central to developing next-generation intelligent agents.
