CEOs Commit to Leadership Beyond Business Amid Global Challenges

Egon Zehnder's latest Global CEO Survey, "Building Common Ground," reveals a significant shift in leadership priorities. The survey, which gathered insights from over 470 CEOs worldwide, shows that executives are preparing for substantial, systemic changes in the economy, geopolitics, technology, and energy over the next decade. A notable 80% of CEOs acknowledge their role extends beyond the confines of their businesses, positioning themselves as key players in addressing critical global challenges like climate change (32%), AI regulation (30%), and economic fairness (13%).

The findings emphasize that adaptive leadership is becoming essential, with CEOs prioritizing curiosity and openness (99%) and honing their listening skills (97%) to effectively navigate the increasing complexity of today’s world. This evolving mindset reflects a readiness among CEOs to act as architects of societal progress. As organizations face mounting challenges, the survey highlights the importance of fostering a culture of continuous learning and responsiveness to societal needs, positioning executives as change-makers in a rapidly transforming global landscape.
