Deloitte’s 2023 Well-being at Work survey, conducted across four countries, reveals a significant disparity between the perceptions of C-suite leaders and the realities of employee well-being. While 84% of survey respondents, which included 3,150 workers, managers, and executives, identified improving their well-being as a top priority, the survey highlights six major gaps in how leaders view well-being compared to their workforce. These gaps span areas like care, transparency, and the prioritization of human sustainability, with many employees feeling that leadership is disconnected from their well-being needs, even though 94% of executives believe their organization is taking steps to address well-being.
Despite offering well-being benefits, many organizations struggle with implementation and fail to align with employee expectations. The survey findings indicate that only 43% of employees are satisfied with their well-being benefits, while 90% of executives think their employees are content. To address these issues, Deloitte recommends that leaders measure well-being metrics, increase transparency, and empower managers with the tools needed to support their teams. The research also emphasizes the need for long-term strategies that focus on human sustainability, ensuring that well-being becomes a core value within organizations.
